Translating Nuova York

About

This website showcases student writing on Italian and Italian American history and culture in New York City.

On the map below you will find essays written by the students of the course Italian Translation at Hunter College (Fall 2018 | final essays to be posted in Summer 2019).

The current map displays places selected by the students, with links to an old image from the NYPL’s OldNYC project, and a photograph of the same location today, made by the students. By the end of the semester, students will post their essays about places meaningful to Italian and Italian American history and culture in the City, written in both English and Italian.
